Amazon Kindle: The Latest Banter
Walter S. Mossberg from the Wall Street Journal wrote the latest review catching people's attention.
But the device is poorly designed. It has huge buttons on both edges for turning pages forward or backward. They are way too easy to press accidentally, so my reading was constantly being interrupted by unwanted page turns. Plus, the buttons are confusing. One called "Back" doesn't actually move to the previous page, but supposedly to the prior function. I never could predict what it would do.
The article began a few replies and speculation regarding the Amazon Kindle sales.
Given the negative initial reactions from so many, and the fact Amazon has very conspicuously failed to mention how many sold, I think the “Kindle sell out” was a marketing ploy rather than a sign of the Kindle’s popularity.
And from Podcasting News found the ultimate polar portion of the debate:
Independent reviews are starting to come in on the Amazon Kindle, and it looks like the ebook reader is going to be this year’s Zunetanic, an over-hyped iPod-wannabee.
