Amazon Kindle: New Shipments December 17

If you are hoping to receive your Kindle before December 24th then you better order today. In the last 24 hours shipment dates have moved from December 5 to December 17.

From an Amazon email reply when asked if an order could be processed next day rather than 2 day shipment:

"any changes made to your order will result in the order being reprocessed by our systems, which would cause your order to be moved to the end of the line, resulting in a December 18th delivery date."

This is very good news for Amazon. I look forward to Amazon releasing the actual number of units shipped.

I called and asked Amazon about this. Changes made to the shipping speed of an item will _not_ lead to its being reprocessed and put at the end of the line unless the item is being prepared for shipment. (My own Kindle was scheduled for December 4th shipment after ordering it on the 19th; on the 24th I changed shipment from two days to one day. This did not affect my status in the line, as my order has yet to be processed; it should ship the 3rd according to the Amazon customer representative.)

I should call, too. The emails and time frames on the site need attention by Amazon. Hopefully, this does not put people off.

Hope they give you a similar story! Their system is indeed confusing.

I decided to try to modify the order online and sure enough it worked. I simply changed the shipping and the date was moved up 3 days. The order was not put to the back of the line.
